Final Fantasy I & II Dawn of Souls

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

Well I still haven’t gotten the best ending in Castlevania because I’m missing one of the relics so I’ve moved on to Final Fantasy I [GBA]. I already have 2 crystals and I just got done with the Ice Cave. I think when I played the original NES game I was right at the end but for some reason never finished.

The GBA version seems much easier. If I’m remembering correctly in the NES game your attacks don’t switch to a different enemy once they’re dead. So if make your entire party attack the same Goblin and the first character kills it then the rest of your attacks are cancelled out and it’s the enemies turn. It really is a backwards system compared to what we have these days.

Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

I finally beat the game today, woot. Although I didn’t get the ‘good’ ending so I’m going to have go back and figure out how exactly I get that one. I also didn’t buy a lot of the stuff at the shops so I may go back and see what I missed there as well.

Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance & No More Heroes

Monday, March 16th, 2009

I got a little sidetracked from my Etrian Odyssey game and I’ve been spending some serious time with Dissonance. I think I’m a little over half way done. I get the feeling that I’ve missed a few items because I didn’t backtrack all that much after I got new abilities. The music in this game is pretty forgettable for the most part but Clock Tower track is awesome. I’ll probably try and blast through this before next week although I don’t think I’m going to try for a 100% of the drop items.

I hooked up my Wii today to play a bit of Super Mario Galaxy because I was filling out a survey on Club Nintendo about it for some coins. After I was done with that I decided to give No More Heroes a try. I like the combat except for toggling the “High / Low” attacks with the IR pointer. It’s not a great set up when things get hairy. I’ve only finished a couple missions so far so we’ll see what I think after I get a little farther in the game.

Harmony X Dragon’s Curse

Thursday, March 12th, 2009

I broke out the old GB Micro today and started a new game of Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance (GBA/JPN) because I started messing around with a Castlevania: Double Pack at the local game store and it made me wonder if I had ever actually 100% beaten my Japanese cart. It turns out I did not. So it’s squeezed its way on to my play list.

Dragon’s Curse (TG16) on the other hand got some play time because someone wanted to buy my copy and I figured I have one last go at it before it was gone. I put in about 2 hours of play time before calling it quits. It’s not bad for its age but it was a bit too old school even for me. It makes me wonder how much I’ll like the Monster World: Complete Collection (PS2/JPN) I have sitting on my shelf, seeing as it’s the same series.

EBAYYYYYYYY!!!!

Wednesday, March 11th, 2009

I haven’t had time to anything the past few days as I’ve been trying to sell a bunch of games on ebay. It’s been quite a time consuming process all around but I’ve gotten rid of a good amount of stuff. A shame all this extra money is going towards stuff like rent/bills. :(

Sunday Down Time

Sunday, March 8th, 2009

I didn’t play anything today but instead spent some time mulling over where I want to start with my last gen back log. You see I have a rather large stack of older games I’d like to play through before tackling stuff like Resident Evil 5 and to a lesser extent Mad World. Many of them I regret not beating back when they were originally released because as they haven’t aged all that well. Next gen really starting to heat up and I starting to feel the pinch. What ever I decide to start I’ll still keep up with Etrian Odyssey because I REALLY don’t want to re-start that one again.

Etrian Odyssey - Floor lvl 6 Continued

Saturday, March 7th, 2009

*minor spoilers*

Well I’m still on the 6th floor. I’ve managed to clear out most of the harder monsters but it’s been a time consuming task. I can only fight one or two of them each trip to the dungeon. So I’ve spend the rest of my time level grinding until dark or if absolutely necessary going to the inn to “sleep” or “nap”. I’ll be glad when I’m finally done with this floor as it feels like the game did when I first started it, hard as nails.
